Spring Showcase Info reminders
Forces Unbound- Spring Showcase Information
It’s time for yet another student showcase! This show will be open to aerialists of all levels with choreographed group pieces, and opportunities for independently created solos/duets.
We are planning to host this show for two showings at the studio on May 30, 2026. Our group pieces will be themed around the four elements (Fire, Earth, Wind and Water) and solos should align with the elements in some way, though we encourage all the creativity you’ve got!
Solos
All solos and duets will be auditioned, and we will be expecting you to have your storyline/character, a skeleton of the routine, and ideas for your costume (and props if applicable). Auditions will be held at the studio on March 15th beginning at 1pm. We anticipate this going until around 3pm, but be prepared to be out a little earlier or later depending on how many pieces we are seeing that afternoon. If you would like help with the creation of a solo, feel free to book private lessons and utilize our open gyms! Otherwise, creation is expected to happen independently and will not be taught/choreographed in normal session classes.
Group Pieces
Group Pieces will practice weekly on Sundays, starting March 29th, with no practice April 5th for Easter. We will have 8 practices, plus our dress rehearsal leading up to the show! All group pieces will be all ages! Find the piece that fits you or your performer’s below:
WIND - All Levels Hammock
This will be an ethereal and free feeling piece based on the feeling of flying. This number incorporates all levels and ages, and we plan to incorporate some ground based lifts and movements as well as hammock skills, spins, and cones. Performers will get a chance to work in partnerships to create flight like movements and qualities.
Rehearsals begin Sundays at 3:45-5:00 beginning March 29th (No practice April 5th for Easter!)
FIRE - Beginning/Intermediate Silks
This piece will incorporate dramatic and powerful silks choreography and movement that starts as sparks, or flickers and slowly builds into a more intensive flame as the piece progresses on. We will have a few small ensembles based on skill and interest, with some parts slightly more dance based than others. We recommend beginning 2 silks up to Continuing 2 for this performance number!
Rehearsals begin Sundays at 2:30-3:45 beginning March 29th (No practice April 5th for Easter!)
WATER - Advanced Silks
Performers for this piece should be in Continuing III or Advanced level silks classes. Performers of any age are welcome. This piece will focus on the versatility of water as an element; the gentle flowing rivers versus massive oceanic waves; a peaceful drizzle versus heavy thunderstorms. We will be putting a large focus into movement quality and styles to depict the many different faces of water. Performers will get to play with new skills, partnering, and dance as we build this piece!
Rehearsals begin Sundays at 5:00-6:15pm beginning March 29th (No practice April 5th for Easter!)
EARTH - Intermediate/Advanced Lyra
This lyra piece, focused on Earth as it’s element will be a (family friendly) hip hop piece, blending the grounding rhythms with in air movement. We will be bringing life to the concepts of gravity, nature and through out movement, and learning a fun new dance style in the process. No prior experience in hip hop is expected or required, just come ready to learn and have fun!
Rehearsals begin Sundays at 12pm-1:15 beginning March 29th (No practice April 5th for Easter!)
Feel free to reach out with any questions- especially if you are unsure which group piece might be appropriate for you!
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend, and as always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
All the love,
